Sunroof Drains

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I’m sitting here at work, listening to the pouring rain outside. I’m reminded of an adventure my wife & I had this past weekend where we finally figured out where the sunroof drains on our car are, and the appropriate way to clean them out (we had standing water in the car a time or two before, and couldn’t figure out where it came from). Needless to say, I’m still hoping the drains are functioning fine now and that my wife doesn’t have to wade through the water in the floorboard to get home this evening!

This is what we did in a meeting this morn, an exercise in listening and following directions.

Just in case you wondered…

I’m too busy to post a new blog right now, because my wife and I are working on writing about the case studies we will be going over in class tomorrow night. Ah the life of a college student…

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all, and may your holiday season be full of the love of Christ, the joy of friends and family, and the hope of a brighter new year!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

August!

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I’ve been working for the last almost two months at my new job, and I can tell you this much… I never thought I’d be a licensed insurance agent working in a call center! It’s mad crazy fun, and I couldn’t ask for a better job. Thank you Jesus for helping me find such a great job!

All has been crazy around the Brady household the last few months. Just been living life and trying to get things in order. Right now me and the wife are going to the church she was at when we met, fellowshippin’ with some of her family that go there, and finding out where we plug in.

I haven’t done much music stuff in the last few months, but all that is changing now! I’ve got a few appearances scheduled, and I’ll be adding a few more here and there as they come up.

God bless!

Life Today

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Over the past month, I’ve put in about 6-8 different job applications, had two actual interviews, and accepted one position (which was one of the first I applied for). I never realized that some companies and corporations take a bit of time to make their hiring decisions and to process all the paperwork. At least it’s a bit long than Mr. Unemployed here would like! ;) But I’m glad they take the time to make the right decision first and check people out to begin with.

I’ve been reading a few different books lately as well. I just picked up ‘Mere Christianity’ again (by C.S. Lewis), so that I can remind myself of a few things I seem to have forgotten along the way. Lewis has an uncanny way of starting at the very root of things, and building out the basic building blocks of the Christian faith. I forgot how breath-taking and engaging the basics can be! If only we’d remember the basics and stick to them more often…

I also still catch myself thinking, “How could I have ever made it another day without marrying the love of my life?” I have the most amazing wife on the face of the earth.  We’ve only been married 5 months now, but I can hardly remember what life was like without her. I love you wifey!

Ok, I think it’s time for some ice cream now.

The 1993 Volkswagen Golf

We finally got our car back today! YAY!!!

Our poor ‘93 VW Golf went out of commission way back on April 25th, on our Myrtle Beach trip, and she’s been at the shop since we got back to town on April 29th. For those who were counting, that means our car was at the shop for 23 days. Man, that’s a long time to be without your main vehicle, ain’t it?

In the mean time, we did get my pickup truck fixed, so now the muffler isn’t so loud, the brakes are good, and it passed inspection! Now we just have to take the car and get it inspected! (Do car expenses ever really go away?) At least we still had a quarter tank of fuel in the car… :)

New cool stuff

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

I’ve been working on adding some cool stuff to the site recently, and I wanted to draw your attention to it. If you look in the right column, towards the bottom, you’ll notice a section called “Now Reading” which has the books I’m currently reading, planning on reading, and have already read! The links go to more information about the book & any reviews or info I’ve posted about them.

The other section of interest is labeled “last.fm Recent Songs” which pulls information from the media player on my ‘puter and lets you know what music I’ve been listening to! Those links go to the artist/song pages at last.fm, but you can find a link to my last.fm account and check out all the random tunes I’ve been jamming out to.

What’s New

Lot’s of stuff has been going on since my last update on here, so here is the latest!

I’ve been in the process of applying for jobs over the past week, and within the last few days I’ve already scheduled my first job interview for next week! Praise the Lord for swift responses!

Our car is still in the shop, but we went and saw it a few days ago. We found out that the differential apparently broke in the transmission, and in the process managed to poke a rather sizeable hole in the transmission housing!

Poor Golf Transmission

And last but certain not least… I’m now officially the ‘Creative Arts Pastor’ for Genesis Church, in Asheboro, NC! I’ve been leading worship there since last fall, and now I’m officially a staff member! It’s been great working with the pastor (Justin Tarlton), but now it just feels more ‘official’. ;)

Don’t forget about the show tonight in Statesville @ Youth Warehouse!

Back From The Beach

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Here’s a picture of the wonderful sand & ocean at Myrtle Beach.

Here’s a picture of our car, the day after the clutch exploded about 2 miles away from the place we were staying. Thankfully we had friends nearby who were able to tow the car to the condo, and then my brother-in-law helped us get it home.

The gig didn’t quite work out either (had to take care of car related stuff in an emergency-type format), but me & the Mrs. still had a great time enjoying the ocean and working on our tan! Praise the Lord for surf & sun…
