This past week I was blessed with the opportunity to spend time in Marion, Indiana for the first course in my Master of Divinity program, a course called Pastor, Church & World, at Wesley Seminary (Indiana Wesleyan University). There is so much I learned about myself as a person, in addition to what it means to be a pastor within the context of how I am serving the church currently. It will probably take me a while to fully digest it all, but I know it was where I was supposed to be.

I cannot say enough good things about the instructors and fellow students I met during my time there. Everyone was extremely nice and went out of there way to make our time spent together as enjoyable and enriching as possible. I went into this journey feeling like I was in way over my head; I still feel that way, but I know now that there is nothing wrong with that, and it just means that my source of reliance must come from the Lord!

I will post more reflections on my week in Marion in the days ahead, but in closing I just want to share a thought I have heard stated different ways, but that still holds true in any version:
God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.

Be strong and follow hard after Him!

  1. So glad you’re in the program, Matt, not only for what it will bring to you but for what you will bring to it. Peace,
