Trains
I’m not entirely sure what it is about trains that has always fascinated me. Maybe it’s the fact that one or two engines can pull a hundred cars at one time, at a rather steady speed, all the way across the country. Maybe it’s the whole fascination with mechanical stuff that intrigues most boys / men. Maybe it’s something more.
I was driving home from taking my wife to work this morning, and I took this picture:
It made me think about how fast trains move through any given town, the multitude of places on their way to their final destination. Do trains stop in every town they pass through? Of course not. They have a schedule to keep, and a goal in mind.
Do we still have that longing and desire for the final destination God has promised to His own? Do we find ourselves moving where the Spirit wills and keeping God’s timetable in our lives, or do we stop in each place He takes us, forgetting the goal & destination we were meant to be pursuing?
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he as given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5)
